Well, it's heatin' up here, baby. Dion has an opportunity here to demonstrate in front of his party the kind of leadership he can gather up in how he deals with Wappel. And, he can also make himself look like a complete prat in front of the rest of the house, and provide more fuel for Harper's hate machine.

Which will he choose?

Two man enter, one man leave!

And his tendency for "I get all the credit, you get all the blame" management is not a long term strategy for success. He will get eaten by his own zuvembis in the end, if he's not careful.

Indeed.

I think Harper gets one more shot at a majority and then he's finished either way - if he loses to a Liberal majority, the RetroCons will turf him for a newer model and if he wins another minority or loses to a Liberal minority, the RetroCons will pull out their knives. He's trying to ride herd on an unhappy marriage of fiscal conservatives and neocons with a significant nutjob fringe to manage. IMO, the money on both sides of the party expect a majority and if they don't get it, they're going to start shopping for a more sellable leader.

The problem is, who have they got that's more sellable? The possible names on that list, quite frankly, give me the willies. And I'm not sure any of them are objectively more sellable than Harper. But it's quite possible I'm not thinking of an obvious candidate.

I'd just like to say I would have voted for PC leader David Orchard.

It's entirely possible this is one of the names I was not thinking of.

Oh, the current Conservatives would have no room for him.
