Hahahaha! That comment certainly betrays the fact that your hobbies don't map entirely on to mine. 8)
Tim Duncan is the current Center for the San Antonio Spurs, is one of the best basketball players on the face of the earth at the moment (at least in the top five, perhaps in the top three), and is a lock-in for the hall of fame. He might just be one of the best players of all-time.
When Charles Barkley (another famous basketball player) first played against Duncan, he said to the media "I have seen the future and he wears number 21".
He also really likes playing video games and apparently also DnD. Go figure.
I actually do enjoy watching sports (though not basketball specifically) but it's a hobby I've "fallen out of" since I had kids. I simply don't have the time and I have too many other distractions at the moment. Maybe when my children are older, should they show any interest in professional sports, I might be able to get back into it.
I follow hockey, basketball, football (NFL and CFL), and baseball. I play basketball once or twice a week on average. I can play volleyball and have in the past played hockey (which given my age and where I grew up, isn't saying much), soccer, football. I even had a brief stint in my youth running track and swimming competitively (a very, very brief stint). As for physical pass-times, I have in the past sailed, wind-surfed, and golfed. I have also been at one time or another a practitioner of judo, tai-chi, aikido, and karate (uechi-ryu).
The above paragraph makes it sound like I'm sort of varsity athlete, and trust me, I'm not. But my life has been filled with casual participation in physical sports. They're fun!
I've always enjoyed playing baseball, although watching it isn't as fun as it used to be. Football I love to watch, but I don't do it much anymore and it's not very fun as a solitary activity. So I'm hardly a sports fanatic by any stretch; I do enjoy them, though, and maybe in the future I'll get to watch and participate in them more.
