Just a thought -- I wonder who the Grits will float as a new leader? Three names immediately come to mind (Goodale, Graham, Stronach), but I'm no hardcore politico. Anyone else with thoughts on the matter? Ignatieff for PM?

Frank McKenna.

Previous very successful premier of New Brunswick, Canada's only true bilingual province.

Current Canadian ambassador to the US.

Not connected in any way with Gomery or any other scandal because of his status as a federal Liberal outsider.

That's not a bad candidate, Brian. I figured Stronach was a name that might fly, despite her relative lack of experience for the same "untainted" reason; she could wave her hands and say "hey! I wasn't even there when that happened!". Plus she has good name recognition.

But McKenna seems a much better candidate than the three that occured to me off the top.
