Seeking some assistance: anyone know Montréal?

I've only been to the city once in my life, and even then only briefly.

Accordingly, I seek advice. Can anyone recommend a pleasant (but not tremendously expensive) place to stay, and places to eat, near the corner of Rue St-Denis and Rue Marie-Anne Est?

Within walking distance would be awesome, but a short, straightforward métro trip would also be good. Our plan would be to drive to a hotel in the city, park the car, and then foot it for our stay there.

Can anyone assist?

Alas, the only times I visit (often at medical conferences), I stay at the pricy places the conferences are at or are close to. I'm going with my wife in November and I think we are staying at one of the Fairmont Hotels.

When you do go, don't forget to visit Valet d'Coeur to get your gaming in. I've picked up some pretty cool French RPG games there in the past such as *Lyonesse*, based on the Jack Vance series (and a game which you are familiar with), and *Thoan*, the World of Tiers RPG.
