New ware powering posts
Feb. 1st, 2006 13:40Since I run this blog, and also a blog on blogspot to support my Burning Wheel rolegame adventures, I've recently decided I needed a blogging client that would manage posts both here and there. XJournal, easy and simple to use as it is, didn't seem to fit that category since it seems to be pretty much a LiveJournal-only tool.
So I quickly field-tested a bunch of clients, and then settled on this new one, despite the fact that it's payware.
So far, so good.
I've made posts to both blogs without issue. I've even figured out how to hack up a "custom tag" in the software to (reasonably quickly) enter tag keywords for LJ entries.
The software also lets me cook up "template" HTML code wrappers for various things, including "music" lines. But not a "mood" line, and there doesn't seem to be any way to add arbitrary "templates"...
... there you go, one hour of using the software, and already a feature enhancement request... pretty much par for the course... 8)
BTW - LJ FAQ question number #218 says that I can use "lj-mood" and "lj-music" lines in my post to do the appropriate things in LJ posts: does there happen to be a useful shortcut like this for tags as well? Anyone know?

I'm eagerly awaiting the Magic Burner, the last of the troika of releases.

The adventures I'm running hew pretty closely to the implied setting in the rulebook, so that's worked out alright.
What I found interesting is the thematic leeway you get from the game, despite the implied setting. I can tell that at some point I'll probably have to add a bunch of lifepaths, but for the moment, there's little need to.
