Christmas has come early!
Nov. 28th, 2006 09:08So, last year I did some work for my employers that they liked very much, and they saw fit to reward me for it over and above. After divvying the over and above up in the household, my frivolous portion of it led me to purchase "a whole lotta trains" from Mayfair Games (well, actually, from Tresham Games, but distributed by Mayfair here in North America).
Last night, I goes to the post office, I does, and I comes home with:
• 1829 Mainline
• 1825 Units 1, 2, and 3
::w00t::
Mayfair sent me the box through USPS Airmail, and it flew right over the heads of the sniffer dogs and their CRA handlers at the border. Thank-you, Mayfair! Thank-you, Santa!
I slaver with anticipation at being able to try these games out in our Longer Boardgame Afternoon events. Francis Tresham is easily one of my two or three favourite boardgame designers (his most widely famous boardgame is Civilization, as published by Avalon Hill).
(I also, off Ebay, managed to snag a copy of the Western Extension Map Kit for said Civilization for not too much money, so that makes me doubly joyful. With luck, it will arrive safe and sound and in time for our traditional yule playing of the great game.)
